Power back at courthouse

Miraculously the power is back on. More importantly, the A/C is back on!

I am uploading some storm video to YouTube right now. I'm also working with a videographer from Channel 4 to get his video on the air. The winds are too high for him to raise the antenna on the live truck.

Also, more outages to report:

- Parts of Willowridge
- New Sarpy
- St. Charles Parish Hospital in Luling

We've also seen 1.71 inches of since midnight.

Just got a call from EOC... many evacuees are calling and wondering about the plan for re-entry. It is still too early to have anything definite as far as a timeline. The plan will be detailed here and outlined on all media when it is time.

EOC is requesting residents leave the phone lines open for emergency calls.

Someone on the nola.com site just posted the link to Entergy's site, which shows where the power outages are. It takes a little getting used to, at least on a laptop, but you can zoom into specific neighborhoods.

The latest from the Emergency Operation Center. 9:45 AM 09/01/2008
The EOC weather station is indicating 40 MPH sustained winds and gust as high as 58 MPH. No flooding occurring on either bank of the river. Pumps are operating with no problems being reported. Due to the weather conditions today we will need all day Tuesday to clear roads. Our current expectation is to allow re-entry on Wednesday morning. Tab Troxler, EOC Director

Thanks for the updates. Wednesday re-entry would be for general population? We have class 2 passes. Any idea when we could get back in? Just heard Margaret Orr mention a possible tornado near Mimosa. We are south of Monroe.

I just called home (Oakland Estates in St. Rose), and our answer machine didn't pick up.

Without power to the neighborhood, our pump doesn't cut on. Do you know if someone has started the diesel backup? I'm not looking forward to flooding for the fourth time.

Thanks so much for all the information. Television is giving most attention to New Orleans, a little Jefferson Parish and some to the Houma area. YOU are our only connection to HOME. You're doing a great job - keep it up! God Bless St. Charles Parish!!!I live in the Davis Plantation area - any information for that area whenever you have any would be greatly appreciated - evacuated to Mobile, Alabama...
