Water is safe to drink in St. Charles Parish

Waterworks Director Robbie Brou wants to reiterate that water is safe to drink in St. Charles Parish.

The barge accident earlier today only damaged an older water intake that was not being used. Since then, the barge and dry dock have been secured and removed. There was no damage to the critical component at the intake structure.

power is out all over the parish.. power lines are down in roads. people who are wondering about anything should go to the sheriff's website for his personal updates. the updates are very helpful!

You all continue to be a reliable and relatable connection to our home. Please keep the updates coming; some of us are on the computer just waiting for the next updates! Thanks to everyone who stayed who is writing in with their own experiences, too. It is helping immensely...

I just heard from my daughter that the power is still out on Laura Lane. There is power on Oakley Lane and Drive and Longview Drive. My house on Longview Drive was unscathed. I assume there is power in the surrounding neighborhood but do not know for sure. Large tree across road near intersection of Nottaway and Oakley. I understand it might be late this week before anyone will be allowed to return but have no official knowledge of this.
