Update from EOC

he latest from the Emergency Operation Center. 9:45 AM 09/01/2008

The EOC weather station is indicating 40 MPH sustained winds and gust as high as 58 MPH. No flooding occurring on either bank of the river. Pumps are operating with no problems being reported. Due to the weather conditions today we will need all day Tuesday to clear roads. Our current expectation is to allow re-entry on Wednesday morning.

Tab:

What's the status of this reported tornado in the Mimosa Park/Boutte area? And how are the surge reports? Any news yet on that regard?

It looks like St. Charles hasn't been slammed as bad as it could've been.

Keep up the good work, Tab.

Thanks very much for these updates. More personal - local - and immediate than the news media can provide about our home area. Any word about Ashton Plantation? Should we plan on driving back on Wednesday, then? Are there any restrictions on travel via I-10 from the east?
Thanks again - and God bless!

WWL-TV have reported that the Monsanto Dock and the Water Intake were hit.

There are 5 barges on the river moving up river from St. Rose area.

Yes, that's upriver...the wind is pushing them up. Stalled in the Luling Bend...and NOT approaching the I-310 bridge yet.

Tab & Renee: If the Water Intake is damaged it could be off-line for a couple weeks. Please give us a confirmed report on this when you can. Thanks!

Thank you, keep safe. Would like to hear about the Red Church area when the weather permits.

The tornado report is refuted... we are traveling in Mimosa now.

We hear from EOC that the intake structure was hit but that it is not affecting intake.... more when we get back...

Is there news of any current flooding of Desoto Drive in Coronado Park? As it floods in heavy rains, an expected storm surge is worrying. It msy be too early to even ask this question.
