EOC Update

At the Courthouse in Hahnville, the winds have really picked-up. Sustained winds of 50 mph and peak gust to 69 mph area occurring. All preliminary damage surveys have been halted due to the high wind gust.

We may not be able to clear roadways tonight and my best estimate for re-entry is Wednesday morning. If something changes I will be sure to post it. At this time we are observing that several buildings both commercial and residential are beginning to have roofing failures. Winds are expected to subside later this evening.

I live on Santa Cruz in the Coronado subdivision in culdesac. The street usually will flood even during hard rain. Could you please let us know if the street has started to fill and if any water is entering homes? Thanks much!

The website for Entergy outages is now down. If you have an answering machine, you can call your house and if the answering machine works, you have electricity. I live in Mimosa Park on Mimosa Avenue, and I have evacuated to NE Louisiana (Mooringsport, LA - near Shreveport). I called a while ago and I still have electricity on Mimosa Avenue in Luling. I work at Cytec, and I called and spoke to an operator in one of the control rooms there. He said he heard on St. Charles Parish radio that power outages were about the same as after Katrina. I've seen reports on TV websites that say that some 500,000 Entergy customers in Louisiana are without power. CNN is reporting that the eyewall is impacting Baton Rouge pretty good right now. They are saying that people who evacuated to Baton Rouge are getting it worse than if they had stayed in New Orleans. CNN is alos saying that the storm's track appears to have turned more north.

Mr. Tab Troxler,
Can you comment on how high and time of the highest surge level that the modeling indicates will be in the Willowdale/Willowridge subdivision? Thanks

Will we be able to enter the parish on Wednesday? Can we please get an update on the green acres subdivision of Bayou Gauche?

I've been listening into the live feeds from the local stations. They're mentioning the surge that is going into towards Plaquemines...and lower Jefferson (Lafitte)...What's the word of Lake Salvador and Bayou Gauche? This doesn't sound good at all.

A house on Stephen in St Rose had its carport come down on 2 vehicles. A lot of houses have down trees and fences. The electricity went out at 10am and was back up by 6pm. There is no flooding in our neighborhood. It looks like the roof at the chuch in front of E Oakland has come off. Overall, I think we were pretty lucky. Mainly just wind damage.
