Damage Reports

If you hear damage reports from any of your relatives or friends staying in St. Charles Parish, please post it here or call 985-783-5050 to report. We are getting a lot of requests from people wanting to know about their neighborhoods, and we can't make it out at this time as the eye wall is over us.

I believe Ormond power is down there is a site you can go to powered by Entergy and they tell you what areas have power outages and Ormond is one of them.

geaux4lsu said...

Willowridge and Dale in good shape at this time. Trees down, minimal water in ditches. Just need to make it by later today with storm surges.

St. Charles Parish said...

We haven't heard a report on the Norco tornado. Could be very bad wind damage...

St. Charles Parish said...

At the Courthouse in Hahnville, the winds have really picked-up. Sustained winds of 50 mph and peak gust to 69 mph area occurring. All preliminary damage surveys have been halted due to the high wind gust. We may not be able to clear roadways tonight and my best estimate for re-entry is Wednesday morning. If something changes I will be sure to post it. At this time we are observing that several buildings both commercial and residential are beginning to have roofing failures. Winds are expected to subside later this evening. Tab Troxler, EOC Director

Dudes@Dow said...

In Taft (Dow) winds are sustained around 25 and gusts around 65ish. minimal rain so far. We think we may have heard the tornado people are blogging about in Norco area. Everyone is safe and waiting for the weather to calm down enough to survey damage. Could use updates on Bayou Gauche , Willowdale / Ridge , Vacherie and Norco as well as Gray and Houma. Of all the sites we have seen on the net it is not as bad as we all expected yet.

It's time for Willowdale/ridge to come together and resolve this levee issue. VJ, during the election we spoke about the lack of a levee and you stated that it was a permit issue, what is the update. What happens when the tax payers on the westbank leave for good. Willowdale could look like the 9th ward in a few hours with a good surge. Please help...We need a spokes person to make this happen.

Bunge Update: Mostly superficial damage. Lost metal cladding on lower runway, 4/8 doors on flat storage blown off, good water, no electricity but main office operating under generator power. All there report in good condition.

AllisonPrendergast said...

Water levels seem okay thus far. Sellers Canal at Pier 90 is at 1.87; for Rita it was 3.15. Lafitte is 2.8; for Rita it was 5.9. So far, so good. You can check these yourself at

http://www2.mvr.usace.army.mil/WaterControl/new/layout.cfm

Under "Water levels by" choose NO District. Then sort by Barataria Basin.

The southern side of the Lock at Galliano reached as high as 7' earlier today. It's now at 4.4' so the water seems to be receding. But I think there's a high tide around midnight....

Anyway, I wanted to share.
