Water finally receding

Water is receding in Willowridge and other areas this morning. Water has moved off the streets but is still high in ditches. Residents are asked to stay out of flood waters due to snakes and other water-borne dangers.

According to EOC the storm surge associated with Hurricane Ike reached 4.2 feet. Gustav's surge only reached a height of 3.15 feet. A little more than a foot made a big difference in this case, as Bayou Gauche suffered its highest flood levels in decades.

If you or someone you know needs assistance in the aftermath of Ike, please contact EOC at 985-783-5050. An emergency coordinator will direct you to available resources.
